Founded in 1999 by two tech-savvy gearheads working out of a home garage, Edge Products has become one of the preeminent names in modern diesel and gas-powered tuning and real-time monitoring solutions.
What began as a DIY project to improve the fueling output of a Cummins-powered 1998 Dodge pickup quickly evolved into a proper business venture. Word spread about the performance gains they were able to extract from an otherwise stock vehicle using their custom-built module, and when bigger shops started calling to inquire about their product, they knew it was time to step up their game.
“Things really blossomed from there,” explains Jacob White, product manager for Edge Products. “It was one of the first products on the market that allowed you to significantly improve horsepower and torque on these electronically-controlled Cummins engines. The first module went nationwide in 2001, and the ‘Juice’ module for the LB7 Duramax engine launched that same year.” The Juice With Attitude product line launched a few years later, which added a digital display to the mix for real-time monitoring. This would lay the groundwork for the Color Touch Screen (CTS) device that debuted in 2009.
In the years since, Edge Products has expanded the CTS line to include two distinct products: the Insight, a dash-mounted display that plugs into the vehicle’s OBD-II port which enables the user to monitor parameters that the factory dash doesn’t provide, and the Evolution, which builds upon the functionality of the Insight by adding the ability to apply a variety of different pre-loaded tunes to the vehicle to enhance performance, towing capability, and even fuel economy.

“The CTS was really ahead of its time,” White notes. “You have to keep in mind that the first iPhone had launched less than two years prior, so touchscreens were still pretty new tech for the mainstream. And the vastly improved screen also allowed for greater customizability while displaying more information simultaneously. It was a gamechanger.”
Edge Products has continued to refine and improve the Insight and Evolution devices over the years, incorporating new technologies to improve the user experience and expand the feature set. And that approach guided the development of the newest members of the family, the Insight CTS4 and the Evolution CTS4. This new generation of Insight and Evolution devices are not only sleeker and easier to use than their CTS3 forebears, they’re also more capable than ever before. We sat down with White to get the lowdown on how these CTS4 devices go above and beyond the already-high standards set by their predecessors.
“This is an all-new generation of the devices that Edge is known for,” White tells us. “Insight CTS3 has become the go-to monitor for diesel performance industry, and we’ve learned a lot since it launched back in 2020. And the Evolution CTS3 gave users all of that functionality while also providing the ability to tune their vehicles. With the CTS4 we’re building on those strengths while also bringing in significant technical improvements.”
The two-pronged product assault starts with the Insight CTS4. As with the outgoing model, the Insight CTS4 provides real-time monitoring for a variety of diesel and gas-powered trucks from Ford, General Motors, and Ram, but here its capabilities benefit from the more advanced technology that’s available today.
“The biggest differences are in the hardware, and that naturally allowed us to further develop other aspects of these devices,” says White. “The case design has changed a bit – it’s slimmer, and we now have an edge-to-edge display. The menu systems and configuration layouts have also been revamped to make them more intuitive to use, and we have more customization features, more gauge options, and more color choices. But the biggest upgrades are in the internal hardware: with the CTS4 generation we’ve moved from a single-core processor to a dual-core chip, and the CTS4 devices pack more than double the amount of RAM.”

In real-world use, White says that these hardware upgrades equate to a display that can consistently output 60 frames per second (as opposed to the 10 to 30 fps of the CTS3), along with substantial improvements in input response, boot times and, in the case of the Evolution CTS4, even the amount of time required to apply a tune to a vehicle.
White says that, as with past iterations, the Insight CTS4 dash monitor is primarily aimed at folks who want to keep tabs on their daily drivers with information that’s not readily available from the factory equipment.

“You just plug this into your OBD-II port and it can monitor and display important live information about a wide variety of parameters of your choosing – things like exhaust gas temperatures, fluid temps, emissions-related data like soot accumulation and diesel particulate filter load, and DPF status. In some applications it’ll even track your mileage between DPF regen cycles. You can also display parameters like fuel rail pressure, intake air temperature, transmission fluid temperature, and so on.”
A lot of this data isn’t available from factory gauge clusters, especially on older vehicles. But having access to this information can help you catch a small issue before it turns into a much bigger one.

“You can also program in things like maintenance reminders with user-defined intervals,” he points out. “This is something you can find on some of the newest trucks, but many of our customers are driving vehicles that are 10 or 15 years old which don’t have that functionality from the factory. And having real-time access to that data can prevent the need for a costly repair simply because you weren’t aware of an issue.” Edge Products offers accessories to integrate external EGT probes, additional pressure and temperature sensors, and other data points as well.
For those who want real-time monitoring as well as the ability to apply tunes to their vehicle for increased horsepower and torque, better towing manners, and improved efficiency, there’s the Evolution CTS4 which has some new tricks up its sleeve as well.
Currently 49-state legal due to pending CARB certification for California, the Evolution CTS4 includes all of the functionality and hardware improvements of the Insight CTS4 while also giving users the ability to apply tunes that can significantly improve performance on an otherwise stock vehicle.

“The pre-loaded calibrations in the Evolution CTS4 allow us to fine-tune throttle response, increase power while towing, and there are also tunes that are aimed specifically at all-out performance through substantial horsepower and torque gains,” he says. “It’s great for someone with a daily driver that wants to get a bit more pep out of it while also improving fuel economy, too. In some applications the Evolution also includes transmission tuning to improve shift strategies, torque converter lockup, and other behaviors to enhance the vehicle’s performance and drivability.”

White says that owners will see power improvements of anywhere from 100 to 120 horsepower and 250 to 300 lb-ft of torque, depending on the application, in otherwise stock diesel trucks. The Evolution CTS4 also provides support for a wide range of gas-powered trucks, and thanks to the recent proliferation of factory turbocharged power, there are big gains to be had there as well.

“While you might see 25 to 30 horsepower gains in a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter GM V8, with something like Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, those gains can be as high as 80 horsepower with no other changes.”
And when you’re ready to take your truck’s powerplant beyond its stock configuration, the Evolution now supports tuning for modified vehicles as well.
“The Evolution CTS4 will include a VIN license to accept custom tunes. This is a new feature for the Evolution. So you’ll have the preloaded tunes to use right out of the box, and if you decide that you want to move to custom tune to support any additional modifications – like aftermarket injectors or an aftermarket turbocharger – the Evolution CTS4 is ready to support that custom tuning as well.”
The Insight CTS4 and Evolution CTS4 also have some other cool features that might not be obvious at first glance.
“One thing that I think a lot of people are going to appreciate is that we’ve brought back the RCA jack (red arrow, below) on the device,” White reveals. “That might seem like an odd thing to be excited about in 2026, but a large contingent of our customers are driving model-year trucks from between, say, 2002 and 2008, and very few of those were factory-equipped with backup cameras. This RCA jack on the back of the device will accept any backup camera. And since the device can see the status of the transmission because it’s connected to the OBD port, it can automatically display the backup camera on the screen when you put the vehicle into reverse. We have this really high-resolution screen, so why not use it for this type of feature?”

White also points to new hard buttons on the back of the device which can be programmed to do a variety of different functions with a single keypress. “We call those our ‘Quick Action’ buttons (blue arrow, at left). These are user-defined, so that provides a lot of freedom in terms of what they can do. For example, with a CTS3 you have to swipe down from the main screen and go into a diagnostics menu to read trouble codes. With the CTS4 you could just program one of those hard buttons to instantly bring up that trouble code menu with one press. You could also set those buttons to do something like start or stop a data log, turn the backup camera on or off regardless of the gear the transmission is in, or even fire up a front-mounted trail camera for better visibility in rough terrain. In some applications you can even adjust power levels on the fly with those hard buttons.”
The Insight CTS4 is compatible with virtually any 1996-or-newer domestic truck with an OBD-II port. The Evolution CTS4, meanwhile, currently supports 1994 to 2021 Ford trucks with Power Stroke diesel engines, 2001 to 2023 GM trucks Duramax diesel engines, and 2003 to 2014 Dodge and Ram trucks equipped with a Cummins diesel engine. The Evolution CTS4 also supports gas-powered 1999 to 2020 Ford F-150 and F-250 pickups (including Raptor models), 2001 to 2022 gas-powered ½-ton and ¾-ton GM trucks, and 2001 to 2014 Dodge and Ram pickups with the 5.9-liter, 5.7-liter, and 6.4-liter V8s. While 2017-to-current GM Duramax engines require an ECU unlock in order to apply tunes, Edge Products includes everything needed to do so with the Evolution CTS4.
“Because of the advancements in CTS4, we’re going to be able to do new things that just weren’t possible in the past. Down the line you’re going to see new accessories that further expand the capabilities of these devices – everything from trailer cameras to TPMS sensors for those trailers that can be monitored in real time. This kind of technology is normally reserved for the latest and greatest factory pickups. We’re going to give folks the ability to integrate that functionality into a 20-year-old truck.”
